Background
Your client currently has a manual accrual process that depends on many different warehouses/departments/locations that all send their accrual information to a centralized person to be booked. Their process includes manipulating each department's information into one uniform GL template using manual copy and pasting along with some ad hoc formulas.
As part of PwC's engagement to redesign this process, the client has asked if there is a way to automate the booking of this manual accrual into an easy input into their ERP which allows for excel journal imports.
Imagine that you have already taken the work of creating a template that will be used by all departments in creating their individual files. This template lays out the columns and headers that all departments must follow. They will then send you their accrual information. Your job is to use a data extraction and manipulation tool to automate the combination of all department files to automate the creation of the journal entry into a repeatable process for all departments.
